In mid-December 2014, GridironNSW announced that the Gridiron Season for all competitions for 2015 (and beyond) will be aligned to start at the same time (August/September through to December). In other words, the Senior, Junior and Women’s competitions will run in parallel.
The West Sydney Pirates Executive Committee is currently hard at work organising the club to best fit in with this restructure. Please continue to check this website for the latest details.
Division 1 Men’s Squad
Males aged 19 and over.
Note that getting into the starting 11 (on offence or defence) for each game is very highly competitive.
Two key factors that determine game-time are: (1) knowing the play-book (inside-and-out), (2) being at training every week.
Colts Squad (i.e. Juniors)
Males aged from 15 to 18.
The main difference to the Senior squad is that the Junior competition play 9-vs-9.
Division 1 Women’s Squad
Females aged 16 and over.
The main difference to the Senior squad is that the Women’s competition play 7-vs-7.
Important Note: The West Sydney Pirates currently do NOT have a Women’s squad due to resources. The minimum number of players required for a Women’s squad is 10, although 14 is needed to be competitive. If you are interested in playing please email us. Note that Females aged 16 & 17 need parent’s permission.
Training Dates and Times
In previous years the Senior squad started pre-season training on the first Tuesday in June, and training was on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7:30pm – 9:30pm at our home ground at Craik Park Austral.
Due to the restructure of the competitions we are currently determining how training will work.
At this current point in time, it is probably best to ASSUME that training for the Senior, Junior and Women’s squads will begin on the first Tuesday in June. HOWEVER, please continue to check this Website for details.
Craik Park Austral – this is about a 10 minute drive from the M5/M7 junction at the Crossroads.
Home games are at our Training ground at Craik Park Austral.
Away games are typically in the Sydney region (Forestville, Caringbah, Brighton-le-sands, Kingsford, Penrith, etc.), BUT could be as far North as the Central Coast (Budgewoi) and could be as far South as Wollongong (near/at Uni Of Wollongong).
The cost to register as a West Sydney Pirates player include all game fees, all insurances and the uniform, but NOT pads/helmet/mouthguard.
Note that registration costs are yet to be determined due to the alignment of the seasons: Please email for the latest details.
